Jesus on the Streets (Full Service Saturday) - August 20, 2022

Here’s an update from the team that served on Saturday. (Deb and I are on vacation.)

Saturday started abruptly on our way to the first stop, as we witnessed a car crash on Main St in Brockton. We got out and checked on both drivers until the EMT's arrived. Injuries were minor but at least one of the cars appeared totalled.

At Court St, we were met by Anthony, who had to get rid of EVERYTHING in his apartment due to bed bugs. Even though he claims to be an atheist, Anthony allowed us to pray for him, that God would provide for all of his needs. We also met Wayne, Anthony's cousin, who is celebrating 17 years of sobriety. Jillian (who was serving with us) met Jillian (on the streets) who just moved to Brockton two weeks ago from Lynn and was shocked at how rough Brockton is. For prayer she asked that things would get "better" for her. Our Jillian reflected that she gets to return to a comfortable home, while that Jillian has to stay out on the streets. Sabrina came from the park and looked in very bad shape. For prayer, she asked that she could become sober. Raushaun just wanted to hang out with us and chat about mob movies and other everyday things.

At Montello St, C.C. asked that we pray for housing and a good job. Dominges was very thankful to receive new sneakers. Titus asked that we pray for God to provide him with a good warehouse job. At Green Street, Steve was thankful to receive a visit, Charlotte was very appreciative to receive a bag full of novels, and Beverly was struggling with diabetes and issues related to low blood sugar. Ang was able to connect with Kathy and pray for her relationships.

At Spring St, Carl greeted us loudly from his third story balcony. Eventually he came down to street level and we had a good conversation, also meeting his mother and other friends. Christina was doing reasonably ok and requested clothes for Al, to celebrate him as he just turned 90. Stuey came by, and warned our younger team members about the dangers of gateway drugs. Even though Stuey looks a bit rough, we can attest that God has brought him a long way from where he used to be! We finished by distributing a few meals in the park. There we met Frankie who requested a few items. Our Anthony was nearby and was very happy to deliver them on his bike. We were thankful to have Anthony serving as part of our team!

Thank you all for supporting this important ministry!
