Jesus on the Streets - November 20, 2022
Here’s an update from the LYNN Ministries team at The Fellowship who served on Sunday.
It was a cold, blustery day in Brockton that really highlighted the misery of living on the streets even when you have a bed in the shelter at night. We were overwhelmed with requests for hats, gloves, socks, and jackets even though the team was out yesterday as well. It’s the beginning of really cold weather and every year people aren’t prepared because living in the shelter all your belongings must fit in a backpack. (It’s too much to carry around all summer.)
We shared 15 pans of hot food, hot drinks and warm clothing to 85 people. Our LYNN Ministries Team enjoyed personal contact with some old friends and then some new ones.
We prayed with Joan who lost her home to a recent fire, now she’s in the shelter while she searches for a new home.
We talked with old friend Jose, encouraging him take care of his medical needs.
Sammy confided that “it’s hard to stay clean in a place like this”.
Oliver had so much to say, some of which was hard to hear but listening is what we are called to do, we prayed specific prayers after we listened.
It was especially hard when two families with small children stepped into our space. We did what we could do for those families knowing that it wasn’t enough.
We know that the need is immense, but we also know this, that when LYNN Ministries is in the city, we bring God’s plan for His creation with us. All of us at The Fellowship who participate in LYNN Ministries making meals, sandwiches, donating clothing, serving, or praying are bringing the Kingdom of God to the world outside of The Fellowship.
Thank you to all our supporters!
