Jesus on the Streets (3rd Saturday) - November 19, 2022
Saturday was a cold day in Brockton to be serving Thanksgiving casserole (turkey, stuffing, potatoes). Our friends on the street were cold and welcomed a hot meal and hot drinks. We had a steady flow of people to serve and ultimately we provided 85 meals across 4 locations, along with clothes, blankets, toiletries, and other essentials. We had a small team for a Saturday with 9 volunteers, so we were hustling.
Only a few prayer requests as we were all so busy serving needs.
Anthony has a birthday on Dec 2 and he met someone new.
Cheryl was feeling dizzy and frazzled by family members making unreasonable requests and no one helping her.
Chris was thrown out of shelter for complaining about unsafe living conditions (black mold, mice, crack users, fights, theft). He’s currently sleeping on a friends floor but doesn’t know what to do for the winter.
Sean and Angie accepted our help (usually they don’t). They’ve been living under an overpass for 10 years.
We served a family of immigrants with three young mothers and 4 young children (including a baby) who were ill and not clothed for such cold weather. (I don’t care if they came to Brockton legally, they’re here now and no child in America should be living in those conditions.) I admit to being very emotional while praying for these poor families because God wants us to do better than this.
We saw Sammy and he’s still on the streets but not as drunk and not as much pain.
Thank you to all those who contribute and support our cause. We couldn’t do it without you. We have another team serving today and it’s even colder. Please pray for them!
