Jesus on the Streets (on Memorial Day Weekend) - May 28, 2023

What a beautiful day to be serving a smorgasbord of meals to 115 of our friends on the streets of Brockton! The desire for sweet iced tea and lemonade caused us to run out of the mix powder and we had to run to the store to restock. (Not surprising since it’s near the end of the month and money is running low.) Most people were in a good mood with jokes flying freely. However, there were also some real concerns for personal safety, after our friends left our bubble of love, and for loved ones who were struggling with a variety of ailments. Here are some of the prayer requests.

- Laverne is worried about her dog (Diamond) who has a cist on its leg and may also be going blind.

- Tim is asking for strength and guidance.

- Brett is new to the streets, living in the shelter, and looked quite lost (his friend Rae is trying to help him get acclimated).

- Michelle is praying for her mom Joan who is 92 years old and health is in decline.

- Brittany asked for soap so she could get clean. She’s praying for a kinder community that would demonstrate forgiveness. Later on she was being hassled by a guy we know (not someone we believe is safe) and couldn’t seem to get away. We intervened but we’re worried about what happens after we leave. Prayers for Brittany please.

- Bonnie’s friend Julian is having trouble with his legs (walks with a cane now) and is praying for healing.

- Sal woke up happy that he would see us today and be reminded that Jesus loves him more than we do. 😊

- John just got out of jail (got in a fight so max security) and needs prayer to stay out of trouble. (He’s living in a tent.)

- Charlie needs prayer for heart health (he has a hole in a valve but surgery is risky so praying for a miracle). He’s living in a tent surrounded by his animal friends (raccoons and coyotes).

- Christina needs prayers for mental stability as she was very pleasant when she first approached us and then turned verbally abusive.

- Sammy needs prayers for strength. He’s been sober for 5 days!

We had a solid team today. It was great to have Lyla back from college! Thank you all for your prayers and support and we hope you are as thankful as we are for the veterans who sacrificed their lives that we could live in this country. Happy Memorial Day!
