Jesus on the Streets (on a cold day) - June 4, 2023

Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served in Brockton today.

Today was an unseasonably cold day. If it were January the 50 degree day would have felt like a gift but after weather in the low 90’s just 2 days ago, the suddenly cold weather was hard on many. As a result, we served 115 hot meals to our cold friends in Brockton.

One woman came to us in a short sleeve shirt. She was shivering. When she asked if we had any sweatshirts one of the volunteers said yes, went into the van, discreetly took off one of her own layers and gave it to her. We all felt blessed as the woman put it on. A look of smile and appreciation lit up her face. To me as someone who watched this act of kindness, It felt like Jesus just walked in the room.

Though most of our friends were managing to keep warm enough, the cold air felt like a set back so the delicious warm meal (chicken and spinach Alfredo.) was really appreciated.

We prayed with a lot of people today. The most common prayers were for housing, being able to move in a positive direction in life and prayers for the health and well being of others.

We thank you all for the opportunity to serve our friends in need.
