Jesus on the Streets (on a cold, raw day) - December 19, 2021
Today in Brockton was overcast and cold on the second day of a double header weekend. The wind was biting and cut through all our layers. We served Mac and cheese with ham to 73 people across 3 locations. The emotional pressure of the season continues to take its toll and there were many prayers and tears and hugs.
Patrick is worried because his mom’s meds are not working. Earl and Jackie are new to the streets and hoping to find an apartment. Chris is praying that his daughters (Ava & Jara) will get permanent housing. Scott is praying his ankle will heal quickly so he can work without a cane. Will returns to the dentist this week and all he wants for Christmas is his 2 front teeth (get it?). Kenny is out of his tent and in the shelter. Harry is living in his car and wants an apartment. Robert is back in the shelter and warm/safe for now (yay). Susan is struggling as her father is dying. We ran into Nellie and Mel at the laundromat and they’re out of the tents and are being housed by Brockton. (Answered prayer as Nellie had us really worried last week.) The surprise of the day was that Christine (from 5+ years ago) came to visit us. She has escaped homelessness and is working and living in Easton with our other friend Mark. (They helped us repair our clothing storage trailer.) She and Mark credit LYNN Ministries with turning their lives around but it was God. We were just happy to be His hands and feet.
Merry Christmas to all our supporters and especially to our friends on the street from all of us at LYNN Ministries.
