Jesus on the Streets (on a beautiful day) - October 15, 2023

It was a beautiful day in Brockton as we served 115 meals of ham and veggie casserole. Our friends on the streets are getting more worried about the coming cold weather. The state moved about 25 more refugees into the city with even more to arrive in the next few weeks. These are people who want to work but are not allowed, which is extremely frustrating for everyone. Foreign language and unfamiliar customs/behaviors are both a problem but these newcomers seem truly interested in contributing to our society. However, according to our friends who live at the shelter there is a state law ensuring refugees must be housed so the local homeless population is being crowded out of the shelter. We don’t know the solution but there must be something more that can be done. If this is going to be a sanctuary state, there needs to be a more complete plan.

There were a number of prayer requests and some sad news as well.

- Richelle is submitting paperwork for housing tomorrow and is praying that she has it filled out correctly. (Some of the forms can be confusing.)

- Stewie is worried about war in the Middle East.

- Mike is praying for his girlfriend Kathleen who has an infection in her cheek.

- Rick is just out of the hospital and is using a walker. He was not in good shape.

- Tim broke up a family squabble that broke out and we were quite thankful that we didn’t have to call the police.

- Jen wants prayers for her mother (Sandy) who is worried for Jen’s safety on the streets. Jen says she’s not ready to give up her addictions and couldn’t answer me when I asked what it was going to take to hit rock bottom. I am praying for Jen.

- Donna (Rocky) starts school tomorrow to become a peer coach for drug rehab thru recovery academy.

- Michelle is going into rehab tomorrow and we had a group prayer for her.

- Stephanie needs prayer as she is sleeping under the bridge in a box.

- Oscar and Kevin were both so excited to receive Empowerment coats made by Empowerment Plan and donated by New England Patriots Foundation.

We were saddened to learn that our friend Patrick is in critical condition in a Boston hospital after falling and hitting his head. Finally, the son of a police officer (who is a friend of LYNN Ministries) was murdered this week. This is all so heartbreaking and so many prayers are needed.

It was a busy day serving across three different locations and we were blessed to be serving on behalf of all of you who make this possible. Thank you!
