Jesus on the Streets (in the rain) - September 10, 2023
It was a warm rainy day in Brockton as we served a smorgasbord of meals to 98 of our friends on the street. The overall tone of the day was kind of reserved with a few people expressing frustrations with how the homeless shelter and the state programs are failing to meet their needs.
There were a number of prayer requests:
Anthony (the construction guy) is praying to get back on his feet after paying off bills and fees.
Nina was tripping and has us really concerned for her welfare.
Daniel was super happy that we had some rosary beads for him.
Ray has a really bad burn or cut on his neck that needs treatment (all we could do was bandage it).
Christopher is praying for his daughter and (soon to be) grandchild.
Dwayne (son of our friend Tony who died recently) was in a bad motorcycle accident and has been in BMC for a week.
Marie and Tara asked to receive communion.
Kylie and Gina are good friends living in the shelter and are growing tired of the challenges of getting out of poverty and back on their feet. (One of them has been separated from her parents since she was 12 and her perception is that there’s money to keep them fed and housed but not to help them progress out of poverty. She has all of her paperwork but no one to help her move forward.)
George had an MRI last week and has a doctor appointment this week to discuss a possible blood clot.
Kat still hasn’t spoken to her parents (3 years) but is praying for clarity, forgiveness and protection.
Sammy is still sober and hoping to go to Kenya to see his family. (Yay!)
Thank you all so much for your continued support. Please be praying for our friends on the street.
