Jesus on the Streets (in the rain again) - April 30, 2023
Another wet day in Brockton as we served 99 meals of Aloha Chicken with home baked goods, fresh fruit and cold drinks. 97 of those meals were served at our first stop where the best description would be hopelessness. It’s been a very wet week and anyone without a consistent roof over their head is desperate. I had at least 6 requests for tents (we only had 1 in the truck), lots of requests for dry clothes (we had very few and those had been committed to others), and an awful lot of new folks.
We only managed about a dozen prayer requests and here are a few:
- Donna had a birthday and we sang for her. Praying for her next year.
- Missy and Eric were totally soaked and new to the streets. (They got the only tent.) They’re praying for housing.
- Chris would like prayers for Jacqueline who is in the hospital.
- Raoul & Maggie are excited to be going into a sober program tomorrow and asked for prayers through the week.
- Sami & Tim (from Illinois but NOT Chicago) are asking for prayers for safety in Brockton.
- Junior wanted prayers of thanks because all his legal issues have been cleared up.
- Tre is struggling with a 6 month old son, while also often homeless. He’s praying for the ability to be independent.
- Ally has a 2 year old in the hospital with a brain disease and is asking for prayers.
- Mike is praying for a job and housing and for his girlfriend Kathleen.
- Simon feels all alone as his parents have died. Pastor Roberto translated my prayers for Simon and we shared communion.
- Aina needs prayers of safety because there is a man stalking her.
- David has a housing appointment in East Boston and is asking for prayers.
- Tyler needs prayers as he’s new to the streets.
- Kathleen needs prayers because she has nowhere to go.
We also met Mac and Bright, 2 street pastors who were serving near the library. We had some great conversations.
Thank you all for your continued support, and for loving our friends through us.
