Jesus on the Streets (in the pouring rain...again) - May 20, 2023

Wet. It was really wet on Saturday. As wet as we were our friends were even more wet. (It was more rain than we saw before the hurricane about 10 years ago.) And yet people were mostly in good spirits. We had a youth group from Grace Presbyterian Church - South Shore join us as we served 68 meals of chicken fajitas in the pouring rain in Brockton. Almost all those meals came at the first stop as afterward it was raining so hard that our friends stayed away trying to keep dry.

Those we served were super appreciative and it was heartwarming to see new connections form between our friends on the street and the youth group. They brought extra rain ponchos which were a huge hit. It was so wet that I couldn’t write down prayers but here’s what I’ve got.

- Robert needs healing in his legs (they’re so swollen). He knows it’s his own fault but he still prays for a miracle.

- Kathy is praying for an apartment.

- Peter was working construction in November and fell 2 floors. A lot of surgeries at Boston Medical Center to put him back together and now he can walk again. But without income he’s about to be evicted and is praying he can get an extension.

We also ran into our friend Mark who is now off the streets and living in an apartment with a job. He came by to say hi and thank you! (He asked about you Leon!)

I’m asking for general prayers for the men and women, boys and girls that we see every week out on the streets. More and more people show up every week on the streets and it’s only going to get worse this summer. Please be praying for their safety and for opportunities to help our friends find their hope in Christ and to restore broken relationships and become productive members of society. Thank you all for your support!
