Jesus on the Streets (in the pouring rain) - July 16, 2023
Here’s a report from the LYNN Min team from The Fellowship Church in Easton.
It was a stormy Sunday, but miraculously God provided a window of opportunity for our team to serve the homeless without getting all involved - and the food - soaked by the torrent. The weather kept the crowd small (66 received meals) but it offered us a sweet opportunity to spend much more time listening and conversing with the friends we served.
- Diane met us when we arrived and stayed the entire time, talking with one of our team members.
- LIsa, who's living along the fence in the park, came by for a meal and prayer, and was also able to receive a coat and blanket, both of which was an incredible blessing to her.
- Over by the library, we met up with many old friends who were taking shelter at the nearby loading dock.
- We savored precious time with George for whom life circumstances weigh heavy on his heart.
- We rejoiced with Sammy for his continued sobriety now going on 2+ months, and we prayed with Manuel for housing.
- Several people received bags of essential clothing items.
We ask a special prayer for Pastor Roberto as he works tirelessly to provide a place of refuge to the homeless in Brockton. We pray for support from and a spirit of cooperation with the city of Brockton. We also pray for good relations with neighbors for whom the homeless population is a real challenge.
We ask God to sharpen our senses to be fully aware of the hurting and brokenness around us. Lord, empower all of us to be agents of love, hope and healing!
