Jesus on the Streets (in the heat) - June 6, 2021
It was 93 deg in Brockton but our friends still came out to visit us so we served 71 meals of BBQ pulled chicken and coleslaw. That morning, Deb and I were honored to speak at South Shore Community Church and then we caught up with our team that was already serving our friends.
Some of the things we saw and heard: Russell is helping a friend who desperately needs new clothes. Clara sang a hymn in front of Pastor Roberto’s congregation. Bruce is struggling with alcohol after his mother passed away. George is battling Alzheimer’s and is scared. Donna is trying to overcome her gambling addiction. Bobby bought an RV to sleep in and managed to cut down on his drinking last week. Jay started in an addiction program.
Tempers on the street were a bit ragged today but it was such a blessing to serve!
