Jesus on the Streets in Attleboro (on a gorgeous day) - March 5, 2022
Here is a report from Saturday’s LYNN Ministry team from Evangelical Covenant Church that served people in Attleboro. Unfortunately, not many photos as some late cancellations left the team short-handed.
“The LYNN Ministries team had a great day serving about 35 friends in Attleboro. Hot drinks, fruit, homemade baked goods, snacks, men’s and women’s clothing, and special orders. Most importantly, prayer and encouragement were served up in abundance.
Marie just came back to the area after being stranded in Arizona and her boyfriend passed away. She had mentioned a house fire as well and that she literally had nothing. She was grateful for us being there and was thankful that she had found temporary housing and would like to find a place of her own.
Linda asked for prayers with complications from her diabetes and having her blood sugar fluctuate often. Lloyd seemed down when we first started chatting, asking only for world peace for prayers. Then we got to chatting and laughing and he was grateful for us wanting to get to know him and chat. He asked for prayers for his general well-being, and that he finds a more permanent place to live.
We met with Jim who had lived in Florida for ten years and is currently living in a group home up here now. It was great to see Eric, whose spirits seemed better than last month. He was grateful for the sweatshirt he asked for and thankful for us asking for his needs, both physical and spiritual.
Bob was back for the first time since the pandemic. He asked for prayers to keep working the AA program and stay in the sober lane. He looked healthy, and was very happy to receive some extras from LYNN Min. Wendy was tentative at first to tell us her name, but she was grateful we were there. We also saw Shep, Hernan, Cindy, Fred, James and Carol as well as some new faces, who were all happy to see us and grateful for what we provide.
Mike was present, after being missing last month, but he was safe, and he was intoxicated. At first he wasn't even able to communicate or recognize anyone. By the time we were wrapping up, he asked for us to call an ambulance. We sat with him and talked until they arrived. He mentioned that he was really looking forward to better weather because he doesn't want to be found frozen somewhere. When the police and EMT showed up they all were reminding Mike that they were worried about him and that he should seek some treatment. He said he tried the last time he was in the hospital, but it didn't work out for some reason. Cristina reminded him that he is loved and we will be praying for his safety and well-being and health.
Ms. LeBlanc was very happy to see us, and ecstatic about her new lights installed by the church. We prayed for her daughter in Florida who is having continued health issues.”
Thank you so much to our volunteers and supporters in Attleboro!
