Jesus on the Streets (in Attleboro) - May 13, 2023
Here’s an update from the LYNN Ministries team from Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro serving on Saturday in Attleboro.
It was a beautiful, sunny day in Attleboro to serve our friends in need with prayer, fruit, baked goods, snacks, and clothing. It also turned out to be a day full of activity, prayer, and some good news. First, the good news, as many of you have been reading about and praying for three of our folks, Lloyd, Bob, and Mike. Lloyd has been living outside for most of the past 2 years, and he’s been asking for prayers to help him get housing. He now has housing, and seems much happier. Bob, who has been struggling with alcoholism for the ten years that we’ve known him, is now in a program, and doing better. Mike, who has been homeless, living outside for ten years, and also struggling with alcoholism, is now in a shelter. He’s doing well so far with the adjustment to shelter life, which can have it’s challenges, but it’s a big step forward for him.
Unfortunately, we’ve discovered that at least six of our friends are living outside now. Cindy, George, Debbie, Brett, and another friend are living in the woods at a campsite. We were able to find them, and give them some food, needed clothes, water, and prayers. Please pray that they are all able to find housing soon. We met a new friend Roland, who is also living outside, after the family home that he was living in, was sold. We are not clear on the circumstances of that, but he says he’s been outside for about two months now. Roland needs prayers for housing and safety. We were not able to find Eric and Carrie, but have heard that they are now living outside in a new location. We pray for their safety, and that they can get housing soon as well.
We also met a new friend Albert from Florida, who is trying to get back home to his wife in Georgia. He came up to Massachusetts to try and find work, and send for her, but things have not worked out according to plan. Now, he is trying to get back home to Georgia, and then Florida, where her father lives. We visited two old campsites in the woods where some homeless friends had been living, and those sites are now vacant, which may be good news, if housing has been found.
