Jesus on the Streets (on a busy day) - August 27, 2023

Today was a nice day to be with our friends in Brockton with 123 meals of Beef Stroganoff served. When we rolled into Pastor Roberto’s church there about 20 refugees resting in the shade of a truck and waiting for us to arrive. The parking lot was a mess, with trash everywhere, but it seems wrong to blame new immigrants for not knowing our customs when they can’t speak our language and don’t have a local community to help out. It was an incredibly busy day.

This was the last service trip for our team member Victoria before she heads off to college. She made us all bracelets reflecting her sense of humor. Mine says, “Girly Pop”. Nice!

There were a number of prayer requests:

- Erika is praying for safety out on the streets.

- David is praying his family is OK and for things to be better.

- Harrison moved here from NYC to help our new Haitian friends and is thankful for a job at Logan airport and the strength to keep teaching ESL at the library.

- Francisco I’d praying for a new job

- Chris is praying for better health

- Mike needs to stop trying to do everything himself (and rely on God)

- Jean is praying for recovery from a disease affecting 1/2 his body and is getting weaker.

- Mike needs work and a place to live.

- (Another) Mike has multiple mieloma bone cancer

- Reschel is praying for her son Noah (14) who had surgery on his skull because he’s growing too fast

- Janet wants prayers for her son Steven and Daughter Michelle and her family

- Sammy is hoping to visit his family in Kenya

It was a busy day with many people in desperate need. Thank you all so much for your continued generosity, especially as we face ever greater needs on the streets of Brockton!
