Brockton - September 15, 2024
Sunday was a beautiful day to be serving Brockton, where 112 of our friends enjoyed a broccoli and bacon casserole along with home baked goods, fruit, snacks, and lemonade and iced tea. We ran out of water and food and so a few people missed out on a meal. We did see one woman getting into a car that pulled up near us and we pray this was a friend who had her best interests at heart.
There was a lot going on with so many people but we were well-equipped to provide love and support to all those in need. Some people were so hungry they were eating while still in line and then coming back for seconds. Here are this weeks prayer requests:
- Brian reported he’s had 5 heart attacks this week and still had the gauze on his arm from the IVs. He’s asking for prayers of healing.
- Sue feels like she’s suffering a nervous breakdown as she’s confined to a wheelchair, and her best friend and her brother have both passed away this year.
- Our friend Robert, who often goes canning with a shopping cart, just got out of the hospital and is in a wheelchair chair. He claims he wants to enter a program but first he needs to detox from alcohol. He also claims he is owed money from paying excess child support and is afraid he’ll lose it if he’s in a program. Finally, he feels abandoned by his friends. We’re praying he would choose appropriate priorities.
- Derek is asking for prayers for his wife, who is in the hospital.
- Al is moving into an apartment soon. Yay!
- We saw Andrea for the first time since Bobby’s death. She is living with her family and sees her kids. She was sober and sad and lonely and spent a great deal of time praying with Debbie. She needs our prayers of healing for her loss.
- Mike has been sober for 2 months and 2 weeks, and should be moving into an apartment on Oct 1st. Yay!
- Sascha’s husband recently passed away and was being followed by a sketchy guy. (He left when we started praying for her.)
- Chris’ wife, Edwina, is in the hospital after aspirating some food while in rehab from a fall. He is very worried about her and asks for prayers.
- Robert (has been in Arizona for a few years) is starting a new job in 2 weeks. He’s been a friend for many years and it was great to see him and pray for his new job.
- James has a birthday on Sep 17th so we sang for him.
- Marcie was praying for health and housing.
- Alli was high on meth and had difficulty expressing what she needed. We are very worried about her because she’s lost so much weight since we saw her in the spring. She needs our prayers.
- Big Dave looked really good, alert and friendly.
All in all it was a really good day to be serving on the streets. There were moments of joy and also great sadness. Thank you all so much for your prayers and your support of LYNN Ministries. We are also thankful to Church of Emmanuel for allowing us use of the renovated kitchen!
