Brockton - September 21, 2024

Cold and wet has returned to Brockton. It was a raw day on the streets as we served meals to 57 people, with most of our friends trying to hunker down to stay warm and dry. We had a large team as we were also providing clothes and toiletries so we were blessed with the opportunity to minister deeply to those who came to our tables. We were also joined by friends from Grace Presbyterian Church - South Shore, which was such a pleasure. Here are some of the stories and prayers from the day:

- Hector and Renee were so happy to get some dry clothes, a tent, sleeping bag, and some blankets and gladly accepted prayers for their health, safety, and their daughter who is living elsewhere.

- Brian showed up wearing shorts and we had nothing warm for his legs but he did receive a jacket. We are thankful that he is looking out for our friend Robert, who is in a wheelchair. Some of our team prayed over him.

- Allie is praying for her mom’s health.

- Angela is feeling bitter because her father passed away and no one told her for 5 days. She’s mad at her family and mad at God.

- Noriega is non-binary and accepted prayer for their safety and health.

- Another woman (“L”) was dopesick and very ill. She could not control her bowels and wanted to go to the hospital. We called for an ambulance and waited with her and Peter, who serves with us, gave her his coat to stay warm. We’re praying that this will be the “rock bottom” that L needs to start getting her life back in order.

- Kenny told us he had his 11th fall of the year. We need to pray for his health and protection.

- Walter came to us wearing shorts and a t-shirt. He is sleeping under an overhang to try to stay dry and he needs our prayers.

- Eric is praying to be freed from his addiction and to get sober.

- Carlos is praying to get work in a restaurant.

Thank you all so much for your support of LYNN Ministries. Your contributions of food, clothing and money is having an impact on people in Brockton, the people who serve on our teams, and on you as it deepens everyone’s awareness of God moving within our communities. We praise God for His love and grace. Mt 25:4-40
