Attleboro - September 14, 2024
Here is an update from Saturday’s LYNN Ministries team from Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro who served our friends in Attleboro. They had some late cancellations resulting in changes on the team but it was a beautiful day of service.
It was hot, sunny, and great day to be out serving our homeless and at risk population in Attleboro. We were able to serve about 35-40 folks with clothing, fruit, homemade baked goods, snacks, camping supplies, prayer, and encouragement. It was a month of mixed emotions for the folks we serve in Attleboro. There were two deaths of folks living outside, Joe and Jeff in different locations.
- Charlie is dealing with the emotions of being the one who found Joe. Linda from our team, also serves at the Attleboro warming center in the winter, and remembers Joe as someone who was always in a good mood, and one of the helpers.
- On the positive side, two people who you have been praying for, and we’ve been serving, Beth and Geno, are making great strides forward in their lives. They are living outside, but both have jobs, or expected jobs within the city. They have also applied for housing in a nearby apartment complex, and Beth is looking into going back to college. Please pray for all positive news for Beth and Geno, as they are really trying to change their circumstance.
- Ms. LeBlanc is someone who we have been serving for over ten years. She has no family locally, and works alone in her hobby shop, that she and her husband opened decades ago. She recently lost her daughter a couple of weeks ago, and was not able to travel to Florida to be with the family. She talked about missing the birth of her granddaughter’s grandson, which makes her yes, a great-great grandmother. She is a sweet soul, who only has her customers and our team who visit her. Please pray for her as she is grieving deeply.
- John is very lonely after losing his brother Willy. John had been caring for Willy for a number of years, and is now alone, and struggling with his purpose.
- Mike and Jessica are fairly new to living outside, and having difficulties with the complexities of keeping employment, without housing, or an address.
- Please pray for our loyal team member Vlad, who is battling cancer. He misses not serving with us, but needs everyone’s prayers now.
- Here are those that we served on Saturday, that we know are living outside: Charlie, John, Paul, Mike, Jessica, Geno, Beth, George, Debby, Ron, Derek, Sandy, Bob, Eric, Carrie.
We know that there are many more, unfortunately. Please pray for all of them, as each day is a challenge to live outside.
