Brockton - October 20, 2024

Here is the update from Sunday’s LYNN Ministries team at The Fellowship in Easton that served 117 meals in Brockton.

What can we tell you that hasn’t already been said! While serving in Brockton we often times minister to the same people, with the same circumstances, but then there are always new people with new circumstances and concerns.

This time our trip into Brockton was blessed with warm temperatures and bright sunshine as we served helpings of macaroni and cheese, fruit, desert, and iced tea and lemonade.

Over 100 men and women enjoyed our meals as some also described the struggles that contributed to their hardships.

A man named Gary, who looked to be in his 50’s, explained that his wife had recently passed away. Meanwhile, he had to move his mother into a nursing home. “I’m dealing with a double whammy, plus I’m out on the streets,” he said. “I thank God that I have something to eat for the moment, but the loneliness is painful too,” he said.

Their stories are different but also hauntingly similar reminders that life is a bumpy, uneven road for everyone. There but for the grace of God, go any of us. This ministry reveals at least a glimpse of God in otherwise trying circumstances.

A good number of people pulled ministry team members aside and asked for impromptu prayers for their most urgent needs. We also collected prayer requests for a designated session that our congregation will hold this Sunday.

Besides prayer and a meal, LYNN Ministries was joined by Restoring Reading Vision, a ministry that distributes off the rack reading glasses to anyone needing them.

We are so thankful for the help we receive from Fellowship volunteers who prepare meals that are served each month. We are blessed by all those who contribute to this ministry.
