Brockton - October 18, 2025

Saturday was a beautiful fall day to be serving the homeless in Brockton. This was a day when we took a full load of clothes and supplies and we served 94 meals across 4 locations. Our friends were delighted to see us and there were many prayers and stories shared.

The team included volunteers from Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, St. Mary's Foxboro, Grace Chapel, Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church Of Boston

Police and ICE activity has been elevated in Brockton recently, and some of our friends were caught up in the sweeps, processed, and then released. We heard that MA State Police took the lead on these sweeps and that both the officers and the process was respectful.

Our first stop of the day was a mob scene, and we feared we would be out of clothes before we got past the second stop. But God knows what he’s doing and the next two stops were fairly quiet and we had enough left to serve people at the last stop.

It was really fun to give Janelle the opportunity to serve communion to two of our friends. And our whole team is getting involved in prayer with our friends on the street. It’s so rewarding!

Here are the prayer requests from the day:

– Cathy has to go into the hospital in late October for a heart condition and appreciates prayers.

– Lisa is mourning the anniversary of her husband‘s death and needs prayer.

– Jordan is asking for patience and rest.

– Three Haitian women let me try to say the Lord’s Prayer in Haitian Creole. They were very gracious toward me.

– Stanley is asking for prayers for rest.

– Francisco has an MRI scan “soon” but we’ve heard that before. He has a lump on the back of his head that needs surgery.

– Jenny just needs prayer.

– Russell‘s friend Thor was pulled off of life support, and Russell could use prayers for comfort.

– Guillermo told us that our friend Greg got housing and is no longer in the house on Spring Street.

– Jack told us that Sarah in the wheelchair is back out on the streets. This is not good. She needs prayers for protection and healing. Jack has disc surgery for his neck in November.

– Kenny is hoping for new housing.

– Joshua is praying for strength to face the fears going on in his head.

– Caden starts a job in November and he is asking for prayers that it goes well and to endure, whatever may be coming.

– Juan is hoping to do better with his life. He’s also hoping to be able to see his daughter.

– Hannah is praying about life in the shelter, which is very difficult.

– Kelly seems to be in a valley and really needs God.

– Friends who are asking for general prayer include Freddy, Sheila, John, Stanley, Donna, India, Alfred, and Charlie.

Thank you all for your prayers, words of encouragement, and material support. It was an awesome day and we are so thankful for your participation!
