Brockton - October 12, 2025

Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served on Sunday. The team included volunteers from: Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, St. Mary's Foxboro, Grace Chapel

The Forecast was for a miserable day: rainy and windy as an unseasonably early Nor'easter was predicted to be working its way up the coast. The rain drops began to splat against the truck's windshield as we approached Brockton. There was some conversation about whether or not to put up a canopy and squeeze underneath it in an attempt to keep the food dry. Instead, the rain never came but our friends on the streets of Brockton did!

Even though the shelter on Main Street is closed, there are still a lot of folks downtown who are waiting for us when we arrive. For some, they are just hungry, others are cold. They might be hoping we'll have a warm hoodie or jacket or just a warm plate of food. Others come out because of the bonds of friendship that have been forged over the years. Others come because they need someone to pray with them or they are excited to share that a prayer has been answered.

We served 115 people a delicious hot meal of meatball casserole with pasta, meatballs, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes and cheese. This meal got particularly good reviews from our guests and as always, we also had fresh fruit, baked goods, snacks and drinks.

But, oops, we only had about 15 forks so Sheri and Frank went on a cutlery hunt. They turned the first corner and saw a handsomely dressed crowd of folks leaving Mt Moriah Baptist Church. We approached and explained our dilemma. They were quick to go hunting in their supply room and handed us a box of plastic cutlery so we could make sure all our guests were fed. We got back just in time. Just one more example of how God always comes through for us so we can come through for others.
