Brockton - May 18, 2025
Here is the report for LYNN Ministries from the team at The Fellowship that served 91 meals on Sunday on the streets of Brockton. We so appreciate their service
In November, 2024, a homeless person living on the streets in Brockton was asked about what life on the street is like, he said, “I’m doing what I can to survive”.
What does that look like? The Fellowship’s LYNN Ministries Team experiences what that reality looks like each time we serve in Brockton. As you know food is a social catalyst, food brings people together and such was the case today, because of that food we had a chance to talk, listen to, encourage and pray with people doing what they can to survive on the street. Our listening resulted in recording many prayer requests. The team will meet on Sunday, May 25 in the Prayer Chapel to bring them to our Lord.
We made powerful connections with hurting people, one woman came to us wondering if we’d seen her friend whose addiction caused him to disappear into the city, another told us of her concern for the life of a close friend who has lost the will to live, and yet another gentleman said he’s stuck in his situation losing hope for the future.
Last week a long awaited homeless center opened up near the VA Hospital in Brockton. The new center, has drug counselling services, job search assistance, a health care center and a potential for sheltering approximately 124 people. We ended our day at the new homeless center after making two other stops in Brockton.
Postscript: The individual who stated that he was doing what he can to survive died about a month later. He was found in back of a building in Brockton, he died alone on a cold night.
And if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday.” Isaiah 58:10
