Brockton - May 17, 2025
Saturday was a beautiful day in Brockton with warm weather and cloudy skies giving way to sunshine and sunburns. LYNN Ministries served 87 hot meals of Buffalo Chicken and Chicken Parmesan to our friends on the streets across three locations. We had volunteers from Church of Emmanuel, Grace Chapel Foxboro, Grace Chapel(Lexington), Bridgewater State University, and some guy from Nashua (lol where does Pete go to church?) all helping to make it happen. It was ghe third Saturday so we had lots of clothes and another ministry providing reading glasses.
We started downtown in our usual spot but it was very quiet, because the homeless shelter has been relocated to the outskirts of the city. (It’s a beautiful new facility but it is not convenient for people requiring resources that are located downtown.) We didn’t see anyone hanging out under the bridges so we moved to serve at another park where we were able to minister to a large number of people in need. Toward the end of that stop we had an issue with some newcomers trying to take as much clothing as they could, but we resolved that (hopefully respectfully) and moved on to the new shelter location, where we were warmly received. Sadly the detour to the new shelter made it impossible for us to serve at one of our favorite stops on Spring St. To our friends living near there, we are sorry. We will get this figured out for next month and look forward to seeing you in June.
There were a lot of prayer requests:
* Rosemonde is a sweet lady that we met on the sidewalk near the park. She asked for prayers for her health.
* Carlos (#1) was excited to see us and pray with us, reporting that our previous prayers has resulted in a job and a place to live. His real desire is to meet someone to share his life with.
* Carlos (#2) is praying that his family be reunited.
* Ashley is praying for safety
* Charlie lives in the woods and showed up riding a bike. (I’ve only seen him walking and he’s walked across the USA.) He’s praying that the raccoons stop destroying his tent.
* Melinda and Carlos (#3) are praying to be reunited with their 8 yo daughter.
* Erica is homeless again and praying she can get clean.
* Renee wants to be a boxer. He is feeling threatened out on the streets and is praying his court date on 5/27 goes well.
* Don J and Laura are praying for health. (They both have serious diagnoses.)
* Anna is praying for help with life, as this is her first time in a shelter and she feels scared.
* Tina is praying she can keep moving forward, stay positive, and look for God.
* Braydon is blind but wouldn’t accept prayer. (We’ll be praying for him anyway.)
* Alysa want to feel closer to God.
* Emmanuel wants to be released from this life as he feels like he’s running out of power.
* Stefano’s is praying to feel the Holy Spirit.
* Tim is praying he can go to heaven.
* Samantha is praying for her mother and two sons.
* David is praying for health and for his first baby, still on the way.
* Eddie is praying he can get section 8 housing soon and move to FL or GA to be closer to family.
* Alberta is suffering something heartrending (no details) but desperately needs our prayers.
* Lucinda is praying that her fiancé, Clifford, will be treated fairly in court on Monday and be released from custody.
Thank you all so much for your support through prayers and gifts of time, treasure, and talent. We depend on you to help us keep this ministry going. May God bless you all!
