Brockton - May 17, 2026

Here is LYNN Ministries update from last Sunday from the team that serves from The Fellowship. (Sorry, no pictures.)

What a beautiful summer day we were blessed with as we headed out to Brockton to serve our friends in the homeless community. Some days are filled with tragic stories, some with wonderful connections, and some, like today, remind us of how God works through his obedient servants to bring about miracles.

Today, as we pulled up to Perkins Park for our first stop, there was a woman lying down in the park, near our serving spot. One of our volunteers went over to her to see if she needed a meal, but she was in a deep sleep. Twenty minutes later, we went to check on her again, and because her sleep was so unnaturally deep, they shook her awake. We brought her a meal, sat down with her, and let her share her heart and desperation. When this woman expressed a desire to get into a detox program, our volunteer went into overdrive, scouring the area searching for a place that had space available. Finally, a detox facility was located about 40 miles away that had a bed available. Two of our volunteers brought her to the facility, where she was admitted. They left our friend in a pool of tears of joy and hope, and it seemed that perhaps for the first time in a long time she could sense the love of Christ through the hands and heart of others.

We give thanks for the opportunities we all have to speak love into the lives of our friends on the street. Beyond this excitement, so many encouraging encounters today reminded us of the active work of Christ in our world in meeting needs, healing wounds, providing for and protecting his own. We give thanks for:

- Anna who finally has a home to move into this week after a year in the shelter.

- Erna who lost her home in a fire, yet still knows God is with her and for her.

- A friend who starts a job tomorrow at Lowes after 3 years unemployed for health reasons.
