Brockton - June 30, 2024
It was hot and muggy on the streets of Brockton today as we were hoping to avoid getting caught in a thunderstorm. (For once we stayed dry, at least from the rain.) Today’s meal was a cold orzo and chicken salad that we served to 89 friends across 3 locations. The tone on the streets was more aggressive than past weeks, probably because of the heat but also it was the last day of the month so many people were low on money. There was still much kindness but also an edge to peoples attitude.
Here are the prayer requests from the streets
- Chris is asking for prayers of healing after having a stroke
- Alejandro needs prayers for his upcoming driving test on July 9 so he can get his license and a car
- Robert needs prayer as he struggles to stay alive
- Vinny and Mark (we think) spoke no English but wanted prayer
- Nate wanted prayer for his family
- John P has a new truck so now he can work again but is now very low on cash and living paycheck to paycheck. He is fearing becoming homeless and bought a pickup with a cap on the bed of it…just in case.
- Daniel wanted prayers for safety for his family and for his daughter to come home safely from DCF.
- George is praying for healing. He was shot a few years ago and still needs a bullet removed
- John is still in pain from losing his daughter a year ago.
- Marcie is praying to get her job back
- Tara is praying for her daughter and family
- Big Michael is in Day 2 of sobriety and hoping to get through Day 3 (the toughest day) tomorrow. He’s going to the Gandara Center for support. Please be praying for him
- Maggie has a blood infection and a bad cut on her hand. She needs proper treatment but can’t get the necessary care because the hospital won’t take people through detox.
- Sherri’s daughter has fibromyalgia
- Kay is praying for his baby and his girlfriend
- Dan is praying for his leg to be healed
- Russell has a cracked rib and what feels like sciatica. The doctors say the pain is more likely nerves regrowing from the broken neck he suffered this winter. He needs prayers for healing.
So many of our friends struggle with society’s rules. They feel they have no freedom, no agency, no control over their lives. They want to have better lives but can’t find it within themselves to follow the necessary rules and persevere to achieve those things. It’s truly heartbreaking.
Thank you for loving our friends enough to support LYNN Ministries through prayer and donations. You are all loved by us. Thank you!
