Brockton - July 7, 2024
Here is an update from Sunday’s LYNN Ministries team that served 124 meals on the streets of Brockton.
Sunday was another hot day with temperatures over 90 degrees. It might have been a hot day to serve on the street for us but when we tried to imagine living on the street or under the bridge like this without an end in sight, our hearts are shaken and overwhelmed.
We were blessed with clouds blocking the blaze of sunlight. Yet the continuous hot weather took a toll on our friends which was reflected on their exhaustion and bad moods. Many of them came to us feeling extremely thirsty and hungry. Some were clearly under the influence, wobbly and tired. Our team served 124 meals across 3 locations, until the last bit of taco bake meal, fruit, baked goods, snack and water. Everything we can offer, was needed and appreciated.
During wrap up time, team members all felt heavy hearted with mixed emotions and wish we could do more. We took comfort knowing that God is with the suffering and needy. Where there are pains and losses, Jesus is there, experiencing it all. There were lots of prayer requests for housing and getting off the street. Please join us in lifting our fiends up with prayers.
David asked prayer for God to watch out his shoulder.
Lfride wanted prayer for everything.
Haja asked us to pray for housing.
Jude wants to find a job. Please pray for him.
Michael asked us to pray for health, family and job.
A group of Haitian Christian brothers prayed with us and asked for housing, jobs and God’s provision.
Jim (Shaggie?) was coughing and asked us to pray for health.
Irene shared her testimonies. She went through a lot. Yet, she is grateful. She is on weight watch now, and has 45.8lbs to lose. She asked for prayer for consistency, healthy rhythm of life and continued progress on her journey. (Irene says hi to Deb!)
Anthony is back. The reason is complicated. And he said he’s not permanently back. We always are glad he visited. And we always hope the best for him. So, it is complicated indeed.
Francisco is waiting for his hernia surgery. Please pray for wisdom for his medical team, pray for a speedy recovery and good health in general.
Amanda needs to get off the street. Please lift your prayer and petition for her.
Carlos is going through tough times. He knows God is with him, but he still feels alone facing the trials. Please join us to pray for strength and wisdom for him, and to pray for a community to help him getting through the trials, one day at a time. He appreciated what we are doing for people on the street and offered to pray for us.
Sean needs prayer for housing.
Emmanuel wanted us to pray for health and for his 3-years-old daughter who is in his home country (Sudan).
Jaquita asked us to pray that she can get off the street, and to pray for her family and her boyfriends’ family in good spirits.
Andrea is asking prayer for her family, for wisdom to navigate life and for better living condition.
Erica is coughing and feels her health is really bad. She is asking prayer for good health.
Terry is waiting for a potential kidney surgery on Wednesday. Please keep him and this surgery in your prayers.
Thank you for loving our friends enough to support LYNN Ministries through prayers and donations. You are all appreciated and loved by us. Thank you!
