Attleboro - July 13, 2024
Here’s an update from the LYNN Ministries team that covers Attleboro for us from Evangelical Covenant Church, Attleboro on Saturday.
Weatherwise, it was pouring rain for the first 90 minutes or so, of our day, serving in Attleboro. However, as usual, it is always a beautiful day to serve the Lord. We were able to serve about 35-40 folks this month, despite the weather. We started out earlier, and visited the tent city area in Attleboro, which seems to grow every month. There were about 10 tents in this area, and 2 more in an area close by. Apologies that the photos are not very good, or plentiful, due to the pouring rain conditions. Winter cold is especially tough, but rain and heat are also extremely hard on those living outside, as neither can really be escaped with these kinds of shelters. It can take days for things to dry out after a day of rain. Prayers are needed this month for Beth, Gino, George, Mike, Charlie, Sandy, Derek, Bob, Eric, Carrie, Corey and many other folks who are living outside in these conditions, trying to survive day to day. Many of these people have either worked recently, working now, or seeking work. There is simply a shortage of affordable housing.
Specific prayer requests: Beth is working with a social worker, who is helping her and Gino to get housed. Prayers for Eric for his legal problems, and for he and Carrie to keep taking positive steps in rehab and in life. Mike needs prayers for his back pain. Ms. LeBlanc needs prayers for her truck to keep running. Taka is someone fairly new to us, and he is asking for prayers for his son, who has mental health issues, and seizures. Some answered prayers and things to offer praise for: Eric is thinking about his faith more, and praying. He is working to pray more for others, and not just when he needs something for himself. Charlie is living outside, but gets to Food and Friends early each day that he can, to help with setup and serving his own friends. Sean would like to serve, instead of being served! God is moving in wonderful ways with some of our friends. Thanks to all of you who support us in this ministry through prayer, cooking, packing, donations, serving, every bit is felt by us.
