Brockton - July 19, 2025

Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served on Saturday in Brockton. We had people from Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro, St. Mary's Foxboro, helping to serve our friends the street.

This past Saturday was a beautiful day at Court St., Sslisbury Park, and the Shelter We were so blessed to see plenty of our friends come out for food, clothing, conversations, and much-needed prayer. It was incredible to serve over 125 individuals, and the many prayer requests shared with us.

We heard from many, each with their own story and specific needs:

- Devon, newly arrived to the streets, is homeless and seeking work and housing. We prayed for his success in finding stability and staying out of trouble.

- Felix shared concerns about the neighborhood, mentioning a woman who collected over 60 needles from under the bridges near his apartment.

- Donna is sending out housing applications and asked for our prayers that God would open doors for her, expressing her discouragement and weariness from the struggle.

- Jason is currently living in a shelter and actively looking for a job, with a couple of applications already submitted.

- John requested prayers for himself and a friend.

- We encountered Tara, who was pretty drunk, slurring and staggering.

- Charlie unfortunately had his tent ruined by raccoons, and we were able to provide him with a new one. He misses his children, with his son in Mexico and daughter in Las Vegas.

- Sal! We finally saw him! He shared his experience of being attacked by a very drunk neighbor, resulting in temporary hearing loss. He'd been staying indoors for months, recovering, cooking, cleaning, and watching ESPN, and assured us he's doing better now.

- Sean, our friend who makes balloon animals and is a leg amputee, received good news: his vascular MRI results were positive so his prosthetic can be adjusted.

- Keyshawn (King) looked very rough, thin and unwell. It was clear he's using again and was very strung out. We had a very direct conversation about the effect on his two children in West Virginia and encouraged him to leave Brockton and its negative influences to get clean and return to his family.

- Linda stopped by with concerning news about Anthony, who is not doing well. He suffered a grand mal seizure followed by another seizure. He was brought to the hospital by Linda. He hurt his back during the seizures and is having trouble getting around, but hopes to move back with his kids at the end of the month.

- Big J and his wife Lisa asked for prayers for housing.

- Francisco also asked for urgent prayers for housing to help him get out of the shelter.

- Carlos requested prayers for his wife and daughter.

- Rosco asked for prayer for his hand to be healed and for his girlfriend, who is receiving treatment at High Point (Plymouth).

- Donnie spoke about his girlfriend, Lauri, who, like him, has Hep C. He expressed his unhappiness and frustration that she continues to prostitute herself.

- Scottie didn't have a prayer request for himself but asked us to pray for Deb's father in Florida.

The many prayer requests remind us of the many needs within our community, but also of the big God we serve who is capable of answering each one.

Thank you all for continuing to pray for our friends!
