Brockton - July 18, 2026

Saturday was a strange day to serve in Brockton. The skies were sort of gray from the smoke of fires up in Canada. It made the whole tone of the day a little bit unsettled and many people were emotional and erratic. Things started off slow at our first stop however, it was the third Saturday of the month so we had a full compliment of food and clothes and toiletries, and that brought our friends in. We only served 59 meals, but 75 came to our table for snacks and drinks.

We also had three women from a nearby church join us to hand out backpacks containing women’s toiletries.

It was also an emotional day as this week marks the anniversaries of our friends who were murdered here in Brockton, Bobby (2024) and Eric (2021).

The prayer list is fairly long so let’s get started.

– Felix was waiting for us to arrive and shared the bad news that his mother is in the hospital and is very ill. We hope to visit her soon.

– Andrea is mourning the loss of Bobby.

– Chris is praying for peace but preparing for war. He’s very worried about the state of our country.

– Keith is praying to be happy.

– Onad is praying that he can improve his English.

– Anthony (1) is praying for good health.

– Alex is praying that he can get into detox and rehab. He was supposed to call one of our volunteers for help on Monday.

– Quentin is praying for peace and safety. He was doing some bad things at a picnic table and asked us to stay away since he didn’t want us to see what was going on.

– Ariel is praying for happiness.

– Sammy is praying for health and less pain in his back. We hadn’t seen him in a few years so it was good to see him again. He has been sober for five years.

– Dave is praying that his mother is happy.

– Sonny is praying for fair elections.

– Joseph is praying for health.

– Becca has been sober for five months but is now worried about her high blood pressure.

– James is praying for everything.
