Brockton - July 13, 2025
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served in Brockton on Sunday. There were volunteers from Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro, St. Mary's Foxboro, Grace Chapel Foxboro.
The weather was warm and a bit humid, but we managed to stay in the shade as much as possible. We served 130 friends across three locations. Perkins (Needle) Park was particularly busy, even though the shelter has moved. Many of our friends still felt comfortable at the 'old' location, and we also saw a lot of new faces.
Key Interactions & Prayer Requests:
Raschel informed us that Robert (Bobby Cans) passed away.
Lisa asked for prayers for Robert's family, as well as safety and protection for everyone.
Cash (Jesus tattoo) asked for prayer for his family and protection on the streets.
Joseph requested prayers to stay out of trouble and for housing. He has a short-term place and is praying for a longer-term residence.
Barbara asked for prayers for good health.
Marta requested prayers for her daughter and for herself to stay focused, positive, and not let others bring her down.
Victor asked for prayers for his family, including his 3 children. He asked about our church and shared that he felt God was using us as a vehicle, and we affirmed that God was using him as well, which he appreciated.
Jose, a double amputee, had open wounds on both knees and stumps, with bandages held by elastics. Joanne tended his wounds, cleaning them and applying fresh bandages. We prayed he would get to the hospital for medical attention.
Shaggy was beaten up a few months ago and is losing sight in his right eye, seeing black dots, and experiencing diminished eyesight. His cheek is still hurting from the broken bone. We prayed he would go to the hospital, despite his anxiety about it.
John (Bruins John) was very thankful for the cart the team provided him.
Michael (Polish) has been unable to work for the past two weeks due to an ankle injury. He mentioned Bethany is doing well, despite having a minor seizure this past week.
Sean will be seeing a doctor this week to schedule an MRI for his leg (amputated at the knee). He is looking forward to getting a new prosthesis to alleviate the pain from his current one.
We are so thankful to all those who serve and pray for Jesus’ children on the streets. May God bless you!
