Brockton - February 9, 2025
Thank you all for the prayers today! It was a great day of serving on the streets of Brockton. We had a small team of 5 so we could all fit into one vehicle for bad weather but, Brockton didn’t get as much snow as Foxboro so it actually wasn’t too bad. (Although the roads were quite sloppy/slushy.) We served a hot meal of Chicken Piccata to 56 people in the park, under the bridges, and in the woods. We haha team members from Church of Emmanuel in Foxboro, St Mary’s in Foxboro, and Grace Chapel, Foxboro.
We were so pleased to have this team go out because the weather was supposed to be terrible but in the 14+ years we’ve been serving we only missed one scheduled day and that was the first week of COVID. We’ve served in hurricanes, blizzards, and heat waves and the people we encounter are even more appreciative on those days. Today was no exception so here are the prayers that were shared.
- Derek is praying he can find a job that will pay enough to get out of the shelter.
- Sheila said no to taking time for prayer (but we’ll be praying this week anyway)
- Mara raised prayers of thanksgiving for her life as it is. She’d like it to be better but she’s grateful for what she has, especially her grand daughter Mikayla.
- Jean is Haitian and hoping to find work.
- Ryan & Loralee are trying hard to stay on their program and praying to see their son Leo soon
- Will is a longtime friend who sings at Pastor Roberto’s services. The building where he had an apartment was sold so he is now back in the shelter and hoping to find a new apartment.
- Michelle was asking for prayers for a jabette (sp?). I don’t know what this is so if someone else does please clue me in. (It is not a person’s name and not a job.)
- Seth is coparenting his son and patiently hoping to get more time with him.
- Kafeinikorv stopped to say hi and pray. We gave him an Empowerment Plan coat in January and he wears it constantly.
- Jimmy was psyched to get an Empowerment Coat.
- Carlos asks for prayers for his whole family and everything. When we finished praying he was crying and said he has a court case tomorrow where he is hoping to get his daughter back from DCF custody.
- Autumn was in rough shape and needs our prayers.
- Darren is praying for total surrender to God and to reconnect with his family
- Kyle and Derrick in the woods need our prayers.
Thank you to all that make this ministry possible, especially on days like today when it seemed like we were the only ministry out serving those living in really rough conditions.
