Attleboro - February 8, 2025
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team from Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro that served in Attleboro on Saturday
It was a cold day to be out serving our friends in Attleboro this past Saturday, but everyone's spririts were warmed by the end of the day. On the good news front, a second emergency warming center has been opened at Faith Alliance church on Pleasant street. This is closer to a lot of the folks we know who are living outside.
Praise for Gino and Beth who have been trying for housing for months now, and seem to be on the right track to getting a place. Please pray that it becomes a reality, as they are very close in the process.
Additionally, the number of folks living outside, has seemed to drop a little over the last 3 months, which is good news, considering the very cold temps at times this winter. Some have found temporary room with family or friends, and others have re-located. In any case, there are still some folks living outside, and we ask prayers for them: George, Bob, Paul, Sandy, Derek, Carrie, Debby. There are more, but we have not seen some regulars in the last couple of months.
The shelter in Attleboro is still not completed, and some of these folks are waiting to be housed there when it does open. We've heard that there may be another shelter in the works on the other side of the city, so please pray that this comes to fruition.
Prayers are needed for the following indivduals:
- Julio to find work, as he has applications filled out in several places around the city. He's trying very hard to find regular work.
- Sandy who is having gall bladder surgery soon, for a full recovery. For her and her partner Derek to find calm in the midst of living outside. They've had difficulty getting into the warming center.
- Linda who is recoving from a car accident, and has some facial injuries she's recovering from.
- Carrie is on her own at the moment, so prayers for her safety, as she is living outside.
We give thanks for the 40th Anniversary celebration that we were able to attend for Food and Friends at the Centenary Baptist church, which has been serving as a soup kitchen for all these years.
Thanks for Pam Tarallo and all who make this such a great ministry. We work well with them, and serve many of the same folks in different ways.
Thanks to all for your prayers and contributions to this ministry.
