Brockton - February 8, 2026

Here is an update from the team that served about 30 people in Brockton on Sunday. We had volunteers from Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, St. Mary's Foxboro, Grace Chapel, Waters Church

It was a bitterly cold day in Brockton but the sky was blue and the sun was shining. When we arrived, one of our guests was shoveling out the snow so that we could park the truck. This is one of the things we love about serving on the streets in Brockton: We are a part of a community that serves each other. While there is a gritty, dangerous and inhumane side to life on the streets, we also witness 1,000 acts of comradery, kindness and sacrifice.

There was a small group of people waiting for us who were happy for a hot meal and a smile. But the usual, bigger crowd had hopefully found a warm place to avoid the bitter cold of the day. We were able to share several pairs of gloves, a few pairs of boots and a couple of pairs of warm pants. One of our guests was so happy to get a pair of warm overalls that you can see him in the picture happily posing with them. Another guest was wearing thin, wet canvas sneakers. We were blessed to be able to provide her with thick socks and warm boots. She was thrilled.

There was a lot of talk about the Super Bowl which was happening later in the day. Those who had Patriots swag wore it with pride. Lisa had us laughing. After praying with her she got all serious and motioned for us to get closer. We thought she was going to say something really personal or profound but then she startled us by yelling, "Go PATS!"

After meeting and giving a meal to MaryJean. She said to us, "I like you guys." I think I speak for the whole team that was out today, "We like you too...In fact, we love you because God made you and you are beautiful!"

We did not pray with as many people today as usual as most people got their food and moved on quickly because of the cold, but Rich talked and prayed with Anthony and Lisa asked for prayers for Paul, Stephanie and Patricia. We also prayed for the family of Victoria and the family of Harry Albert who passed away within the past two weeks.

Please join us in prayer for all those we did not see this week. We pray God is keeping them warm and safe.
