Brockton - August 15, 2026

Here’s an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served on Saturday.

Saturday was a beautiful day for serving in Brockton as over 100 meals were provided. As we drove between three different stops we saw a lot of drama and one physical altercation, yet in the locations where we served it was peaceful. We trust that God's Spirit was protecting us and allowing us to be his hands and feet out on the street.

We served BBQ chicken sandwiches and grilled vegetables, plus snacks and cold lemonade and ice tea. Another ministry joined us to provide reading glasses.

Many people commented that they were very hungry and thirsty, so meeting the basic needs was an essential part of our service. We like to say that sharing food and clothes is not our primary goal, but sometimes it's just what our friends really need. Serving with kindness and a smile is what we offer most often.

At our first stop, Sheila was waiting for us, greeting us with a smile. A steady flow of people followed, and we were able to have a number of quality conversations and prayers. Stephanie and Karen distributed clothing graciously to a seemingly never-ending line of women.

- Jacinto (Moyo) was grieving about his friend Mark, who had just passed away.

- A woman named Mary shared that she had just buried her boyfriend earlier in the day.

- Another woman shared that she was sad to be unable to attend a recent funeral.

Death is something that happens far too often for our friends.

Other prayer requests include:

- Big J is living in a tent with his wife Lisa. Recently he got a job working in a warehouse. He said that they are next in line to move into Jeff's Place. Please pray for housing and continued employment for them.

- Kobi shared that his son Kaleef just turned 9. Kaleef lives in the Dominican Republic.

- Caitlyn has 4 children, 3 who live in SC. She misses all of them but isn't taking positive steps to see them again. She spent a lot of time with several of our women.

- Zamboni John shared that the apartment building next to his just had a fire and a lot of people have to find new housing. We prayed for all of his former neighbors to be relocated soon.

- John joined our team by purchasing some trash bags for us. We enjoyed his company at all three stops. He doesn't go to church, but visiting with us provides Christian fellowship for him.

- Felix shared that his mother Sandy is back in Brockton hospital with blood clots in her legs related to her cancer. We pray for Sandy’s comfort as she tries to regain her strength and also for her family including Felix, Stanley and Amanda.

- Nateeka met us at the first stop but had to leave, She found us again at our last stop and received prayer. She asked for prayer for her family, who are struggling with addiction. Nateeka is starting an adult education program in September and asked for a notebook, pens and a book bag.

- Michelle received a few items from us and then broke into song, blessing us with her beautiful voice. She took food for her brother and others who are staying at the nearby park.

- Jenn wants to get clean and go to rehab.

- Kerri and Jen - Jen was trying to leave Brockton and Kerri needs a home.

- Quinton joined us at our second stop. Last month he wouldn't accept any hospitality, so this was a positive step for him. He was his typical charming self. On his way out he said to everyone that he "needed to get off the stuff!" We count that as a prayer request.

- AJ shared that he is taking care of his mother Amy, as she is very ill. AJ is a certified welder and hopes to find work again soon.

- George was thankful to have housing after a recent fire at his apartment forced him to relocate, He is having shoulder surgery this week and asked for prayer.

- It was good to see our friend Charlie again. He has a tent in a new location along with a few others and said it would be ok if we visited him.

- Right as we were leaving, Kendra found us. She was asked previously for a tent and a blanket, but we had just given them away to someone else.

- General prayer was offered for Freddy, Abdul, Oriza, Maria, Mama, Kenny and Christina.

Finally, one of our team who was helping with reading glasses shared that one person who tried on glasses realized that they really needed them! They then read from a Bible, and it was as if their spiritual eyes were opened as well. Providing our friends with reading glasses can be such a blessing!

We are so thankful for the blessing of having faithful volunteers and contributors!
