Attleboro - May 10, 2025

Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that serves out of Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro about last Saturday in Attleboro

It was another cold and rainy day to be out serving, but it's always a beautiful day to serve the Lord and his flock. We partnered with some folks from another church, Bishop and his son, who joined us for the first time, and had a great experience.

Emotions were high for a number of the folks we served, for a variety of reasons. First, we had a friend, living outside, who was stabbed. We don't know the full story, so we'll keep names out of it, but it is the second time that this has happened to him living outside, in just over a year. Thankfully, he is okay, but living outside is a dangerous life for many reasons. Secondly, the number of people living outside is growing now, and will for the next 4-6 months. We know of at least 12 friends now living outside, and 2 more said they thought they'd be outside this week. It's because many have friends or family that are willing to give them temporary places to live in the coldest months but then are not welcome the rest of the year. It's just a tough way to live. Unfortunately, last summer we had about 25 friends living outside, and we expect a similar if not greater number again this year.

Prayer Requests

- Jim is newly living outside in the last week and is a bit scared. We found him at his campsite and were advised there were 6 people living out there, where there was only 1 last month. Jim was looking forward to seeing his granddaughter that day, and we prayed for that to happen.

- Patricia is 91 now, and has outlived all 3 of her children. She said that she is able to see 1 grandson and 1 granddaughter periodically but would be alone on Mother's Day. We prayed for her health and the health of her family, as she has grandkids, great-grandkids, and great-great grandkids, but most do not live in New England.

- We met our friend Val, who is living outside, and was very emotional with us. She's trying to help her sisters take care of her mom, and she is just looking for kindness and peace in the world.

- We pray for Geno and Beth for work, and for potential housing in Norton.

- We need prayer for housing for the following folks who are now living outside: Paul, Val, Jim, Mike, Jessica, Nick, Bob, George, Eric, and Carrie.

Our new service partner Bishop summed up the day greatly, when he said that for some of the folks, we are providing just a little bit of heaven on earth in the form of prayer, a smile, encouragement, conversation, socks, cookies, or a tent. It was a nice way to think about it, because they lack these things so many days of their lives. Thanks to all for your contributions to this ministry, and for the prayers.
