Jesus on the Streets - October 16, 2022

Here’s an update from the team at The Fellowship that represented LYNN Ministries in Brockton today.

God blessed us with an absolutely beautiful day to be outside engaging with our friends on the streets of Brockton. We were privileged to serve 86 meals and engage in numerous conversations and opportunities for encouragement, listening, and prayer. There seemed to be fewer strung out people around today, and a large number of the friends who came by for a meal were in relatively good spirits. Each time we go out, I'm reminded of how much a warm cup of coffee or a hot meal speaks love to those in tough places. We don't forget the difficulty of street life in these moments, but we see the power of Christ's love in action to bring moments of hope and peace in an often violent and chaotic world.

Among the many situations and people to be praying for are:

Greg who at the beginning of the month lost his girlfriend and soulmate of 15 years, Marybeth, known on the streets as Shorty. We don't know the exact circumstances surrounding Marybeth's passing, but Greg is devastated by the loss.

Henry, an older gentleman who regularly comes to services at Pastor Roberto's church, asked for prayer for growth in his relationship with Jesus.

We prayed over Irene's hurting knees and over her friends on the streets.

Kara is a mother of three boys ages 10 and under, whose is struggling with addiction. Pray for release from the bondage of drugs.

Tony who lost his voice to cancer, is having hip surgery on Thursday. He is not homeless, but is a great advocate for the homeless and actively involved in ministering to the homeless population.

Eddie's girlfirend Kristen is in very poor health.

Rubin who wears the scars of past injuries. Rubin is going into the hospital this week for throat surgery. He is a wheel-chair bound individual who has been dealing with a serious infection and intestinal problems. Pray for relief and skill for the doctors who will perform his surgery.

Edgar who seems to be dealing with some depression and despair. His lung condition limits the kind of work he's able to do and right now he can't put together the funds to meet his obligations. At present, Edgar is living on the street finding shelter where he can.

We are concerned for Cheryl, a former client of someone on our serve team today. We're concerned for the situation for Cheryl's children.

We were encouraged by Adam and William. Both were men out picking up the litter around the respective park areas they call home.

The needs on the streets are great, but they are not greater than our God!

Sadly, today’s team also reported seeing Sammy back out on the street. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more. Thank you to all who serve and support this ministry!
