Memorial for Mike Lagerstedt - RIP July 16, 2021

Sunday, I wrote about our concern for the whereabouts of our friend Mike, who lived in the woods. Now, we have learned that on July 16 our friend Mike was hit by a car (in the middle of the day) and subsequently died from his injuries.

We knew Mike as a gentle, sweet man who made us gifts (our cross), had a beautiful smile, was proud of his homemade crafts, and was always grateful for the time and love we shared with him. Often he spoke to us of the difficulty of his living conditions, but it was always the lack of love on the streets that bothered him most.

Mike was friendly to all of our LYNN Ministries teams, but when Debbie spoke to him his whole face would light up with a smile. Where strangers may have seen a homeless man, we saw a man with infinite value and incredible potential, a Child of God, just as God created him.

We are truly heartbroken for Mike and for his family. Rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus friend, and we’ll celebrate together in heaven some day!
