Jesus on the Streets (with Narcan) - April 11, 2021

It was a crazy day serving in Brockton! For the first time in more than a decade, we had to administer Narcan to someone who was overdosing. It took 5 doses before our friend became alert. (We have since been told we should have been more patient…whoops.) Thank God the EMTs arrived to bring him to the hospital for proper treatment. (Literally, we thank God.)

This man is clearly in both physical and psychological pain. Personally, I can’t imagine sleeping on the streets while having a colostomy bag attached to me. Is it any wonder he sought whatever relief he could find?

It was cold and windy but we served meals to 76 people. (When does spring arrive?) Our friend, Guy, was so pleased to share that he’s going to be a father. Donna was excited to have finally saved enough to buy a scooter. Don asked for prayers for his girlfriend who has pancreatitis. Eric has an appointment at BWH next week to learn if he has cancer. Charlie and Kenny were forced to move their tents (they were hidden well and they kept the place really neat but the city doesn’t care). Bobby is hoping to get into Teen Challenge (addiction treatment/recovery) and we’re hoping his girlfriend Andrea will go as well. It was an amazing day and we feel so blessed to serve!
