Jesus on the Streets (on New Year’s Eve) - December 31, 2023
What a wonderful way to finish 2023, it was cold but dry as we served 88 of our friends on the streets of Brockton. We were joined by 2 college students who were back on vacation, which was a special treat. Since it was the day before a major holiday, like last week, fewer of our friends were around but there was a lot of joy and lots of prayer requests.
Chris was upset that his girlfriend in Boston has been diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver and asked for prayers for her recovery.
Susan asked for prayers for her boyfriend eyesight (he has an infection).
Mike is praying that he can find a place of their own for his family to live.
Tex is praying for a job and housing.
Michelle is asking for prayers for a home.
Stephanie is asking for prayers for her unborn baby and for her son Noah.
Will is praying for the (calico) cat that he found that has befriended him.
Vincent is praying for a new home because the house where his apartment is located has been sold.
Ashley is still suffering with her addiction but at least she accepted hot food today. (She needs our prayers.)
Russell (broken neck) is still in a wheelchair but he can stand up when necessary. He has numbness and/or pins and needles pain from just his abdomen down his legs. We are praying he makes a full recovery.
George shared pictures of his granddaughter who is a gymnast.
We finished our day talking to our friends Black and OG. We;ve known them for over a decade and now after many years battling substance abuse and being in/out of prison for various offenses, both of them are now have jobs and their own places to live. It’s great to see the progress each of these men have made.
Thank you to all our supporters and volunteers for your prayers, your time and talent, and your clothing and financial contributions. Have a wonderful New Years celebration (but be smart)!
