Jesus on the Streets of Brockton (3rd Saturday) - September 17, 2022

Saturday was a beautiful day to be serving those in need in Brockton. It was the 3rd Saturday so we had a full-load of clothes and essentials along with a hot meal and cold drinks. It was a relatively quiet day as we served 75 people across 5 locations. We had a small team but God made sure we saw all those who needed us.

Many of our regulars were missing yesterday and we hope they’re all ok. We also learned that our dear friend Tom passed away. He was one of the good guys that used pool his money with two others and cook for our team so we could enjoy a hot meal at the end of a long day. (We have learned that those who have little are often the most generous.) To our knowledge, Tom didn’t drink or do drugs. He had been in a nursing home for several months and finally succumbed to his many ailments. Our biggest fear is that he died alone, though none of us are ever truly alone.

For prayer requests

- Darren is hoping to find his way back to the Lord

- Andy is living outside and needed a lot of stuff but prays for protection.

- Don has (finally) gone to rehab and I’d now on Soboxone to get off opioids but it makes him feel bad. (He’s gotten so thin.) He’s praying to stay off opioids.

- Jill prays for healing (didn’t share specifics).

- Carlos hurt his hand badly and is praying for healing.

- Rui is praying for safety and blessings

- Mike is praying for a job and apartment.

- Edgar is distraught because he’s staying in an abandoned building with a young couple with a baby who don’t seem to be able to care for it. (Filthy conditions.)

- Steve is still dealing with bad lungs. He’s not strong enough to leave his apartment because he can’t get down the stairs.

- Kathy seems to be doing well. We hadn’t seen her in awhile because she and Debbie had a disagreement (long story). Everyone is reconciled now. Yay!

- Sheila is heartbroken that she’s losing her 5 year old son to adoption. She knows it’s best because she can’t care for him but the hurt is still very raw.

- Patrick is suffering extreme back pain.

Thank you all for the many blessings you provide to us, financially, clothes and food, and most of all prayer.
