Jesus on the Streets (finally a nice day) - February 4, 2024
It was sunny today. Finally! It was a beautiful day to serve 73 meals on the streets of Brockton. We had a great team as we served 2 different types of soup to our friends, along with home baked goods and fresh fruit. Last week coffee was the hot drink of choice but today it was cocoa. It was really special to deliver some special requests for boots and coats, and some of our folks needed sleeping bags and blankets. One couple refused to accept a tent because they get stolen, preferring instead to sleep on the steps of a church which seems completely wrong.
Here are this week’s prayer requests:
Donna hurt her hand and hasn’t been able to work.
Robert is hoping for an apartment
Haja is asking for prayers for her daughter Isabelle and for a peaceful life
Neo was so happy to get a new pair of winter boots
Mark is praying for everyone to be warm
Emily is praying for the courage to enter detox
Tim and Danica are praying for warmth
Jay is worried about his neurological appointment for surgery on his hand
Richard is praying about the attitudes from his family. He recently got the courage to admit that he’s additcted to drugs and rather than offering to help they have taken a tone of judgment and shame. Research shows that genetics have a strong influence on addiction (40-60%).
Lou is praying for his mom who is behaving erratically.
George needs to get onto Medicare because he has a brain tumor and can’t even afford his co-pay.
Jeremy and Anita are praying for communication with family
Alex has stage 1 lung cancer.
Gabriel is thrilled to have received a new winter coat.
It was wonderful to be serving today and so thankful to all our supporters who make it possible to serve so many in need. Thank you!
