Jesus on the Streets (clear and cold) - February 19, 2022

Today was surprisingly cold in Brockton (due to windchill) on the first day of a double-header weekend and we served 43 meals across 5 locations. There weren’t many people out on the streets today (we think because it was so cold). Those we served were extremely grateful and hung around with us for a long time to talk and pray.

We had many prayer requests. Donny is in a lot of back pain (blown disk) and the pain pills are not doing much. We celebrated Freddy’s 69th birthday. Chris, who lives in the shelter, and I discussed how his perspective has softened toward people on the streets. Anthony needs patience as he keeps getting pulled into family squabbles. Chris and Jacquie are wrestling with anxiety. Charlotte was excited to see us and shared how she looks forward to our visits. Ileana and Johnny are mourning the loss of their 36 year old daughter. Sandy is grieving as the 1st anniversary of her husband’s death approaches. Danielle has been waiting for Section 8 housing for 13 years. Andrea and Bobby are praying for protection as they are living under a bridge. Chris was the last guy we prayed with, young, healthy, looks like former military, and ever since he arrived in Brockton from Philadelphia he said people have been approaching him to say God asked them to talk to him (a stranger). He shared how his father was a pastor but he fell away from his faith and made bad choices but now he’s trying to get his life back on track. We prayed together for a long time. He’s going to Pastor Roberto’s on Sunday and we hope to see him again.

Thank you all for sponsoring our efforts to restore dignity to our friends on the streets!
