Jesus on the Streets (after a blizzard)
It was a really cold day (10-5 deg) on the snowy streets of Brockton (27” of snow after nor’easter). We served 59 meals of Shepherd’s Pie across 2 locations in the city and we went through 12 pans of food (really large servings). We seemed to be the only ministry serving today and people were waiting for us when we arrived. (Pastor Roberto’s church was closed and he usually serves breakfast.) It was really nice to see a bunch of our homeless friends shoveling out the walkways and doors of the church. A couple of them helped get the snowblower running, which helped a lot. There were quite a few prayers from very cold people (many of whom slept outside last night).
Scott is thankful to have a job starting in late March. John has returned to work and is moving to RI in March (excited to be closer to his kids). Jay sees an orthopedist on Wednesday hoping to regain mobility in his thumb. Andy lost his apartment and is now in the shelter but seems to be very upbeat about God’s work in his life. Tim and Danielle are hoping for a stable living situation out of the shelter and with Danielle’s 3 kids. Jason doesn’t believe in God but we had a great conversation and he agrees that life is a “gift”. (We didn’t discuss who the gift of life came from.) Jonathan is an amputee in a wheelchair but he misbehaved and was thrown out of the shelter, which means he spent last night outside in the blizzard. Now, navigating the snowy streets in a wheelchair is rough.
Thank you so much for your sponsorship and prayers!
