Jesus on the Streets - December 11, 2022
It was a big day for LYNN Ministries in Brockton as today marked the start of our 13th year serving the homeless and at-risk populations on the street. We go where many others won’t, to remind our friends that their lives matter to God and to us, and to breathe life into those who are starved for encouraging relationships.
It was cold and raw on the streets as we served 75 meals of turkey piccata and provided hot drinks to many more than that. With fewer ministries serving in Brockton this year there are a lot of people lacking coats, hats, and gloves and we’re trying to fill that void. There are also fewer housing units available and the city is being more aggressive in destroying tent encampments. Gang activity is also responsible for 5 tent encampments being burned on Thanksgiving. (It’s hard for us to keep up with the demand for small, high quality tents that are discreet and also warm and dry. Also, we are running out of Empowerment Coats that convert into low temperature sleeping bags but cost $150 each.)
Here are sone of the prayer requests:
Tracy was excited to have piccata (she asked for it last week).
Laverne is thankful to now have a car so she can look at apartments that are further away but more affordable.
Laura us asking for clarity of mind and reconnection with God. (Since she relapsed into smoking pit she has not felt the presence of the Holy Spirit.)
Cassie is sad that she doesn’t get to see her kids much. She was in a car accident last year and was in the hospital for months. As a result she lost her apartment and storage unit (couldn’t pay fees) and her children were moved to her mom. Now she’s homeless and can’t get her kids back.
Greg is very sad since his fiancé, Shorty, died over the summer.
Before heading out this morning we prayed that Bobby and Andrea would be in a good state of mind and that Sammy would be sober. We found Bobby and Andrea at church with Pastor Roberto (yay!) and Sammy was sober (yay!).
Thank you to all who support LYNN Ministries, your love is felt on the streets! As we start our 13th year of service we are humbled by God’s faithfulness experienced through your generosity!
