Brockton - October 25, 2026
Today was an absolutely beautiful fall day in Brockton as the LYNN Ministries team served 77 meals to our friends on the streets. Everyone was in good spirits, as there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, but it wasn’t all sunshine as we heard some heart wrenching stories today.
A number of women had black eyes and bruised faces, and others showed other signs of abuse. Many people didn’t want to talk about their ordeals. We heard stories of “landlords”, taking advantage of women in their rooms, and the women are too afraid to report it to the police. They fear that they’ll be thrown out of their room and have nowhere to stay through the winter. This is not a decision someone should have to make, between a safe place to sleep and staying warm. And it’s not just women, we saw a number of men (usually smaller in size) who appeared to be abused and fearful.
Our friends who don’t have housing are scrambling to find the resources they need to make it through the winter. There is not enough affordable housing with $900 for a 140 square foot room and one community bathroom per floor seems unreasonable. There are not enough beds at the shelter for the population in Brockton (fewer beds in the new shelter than in the old shelter). Overall, people are feeling desperate and invisible.
Today’s prayer list is long so we appreciate you joining us in daily prayer for these men and women.
Jessica looked beaten up and is praying that she can get “better” and that her kids are doing well. Her son hurt his foot and is now walking in a boot while waiting to have a pin put in it and so he can’t work. Her name is in the housing lottery and she’s praying to get a room.
A new guy named Buddy was very pleasant and accepted prayer.
Max is looking to become better at recognizing God‘s guidance and accepting His opportunities.
Fiona looked very fearful as she is living on the streets. She’s seven months pregnant and people are taking advantage of her and trying to make her drink. She is seeking repentance and wisdom.
Tony is praying for safety after being badly beaten.
Andrea is basically couch surfing trying to find a place that will allow her to live the way she wants to.
Stanley was today’s birthday boy. We sang to him and gave him a cake and some chocolates. Today he interviewed for a job in Quincy and he feels good about his chances.
Mark is praying for direction.
Jamie is praying that she can get into a recovery program. The problem is she has a dog that she’s not willing to leave behind and has no one that could keep it for her.
Tiger is Andrea’s uncle and he is praying for his three underage children.
Laverne reported being treated very badly by someone who has a key to her room.
Shaggy was pleased that one of our volunteers gave him cat food for his cats. However, he is upset because his keys and phone were stolen and many of his items are now missing.
Kerry Lynne is praying for healing and to get away from her boyfriend.
Nelly is praying for stability and to ground herself in reality.
Laura and Donny are praying for health for both of them and prayers for Donny as he recently started life in a wheelchair.
Seneca is spiritual, but not religious.
Tony is praying for safety and healing for his face after being beaten
Jax is praying for his three children, protection, and housing.
Emmanuel is praying for peace.
Nick is praying for his financial situation.
Ashley is heartbroken having recently learned that her mother passed away in Florida. She did not get a chance to say goodbye to her mom.
Barbara is 80 and lives in her car. She is praying for us, praying for Love, and praying that a mechanic can fix her timing chain. (Her car starts and can be driven in town, but she was told to stay off the highway. She wants to drive home to Texas.)
Becca tells us that she is back on the wagon and no longer drinking. She’s had several relapses over the last several months, and is discouraged. We tried to give her hope that if she keeps trying, she will eventually be able to succeed. We also warned her about the people around her that may not want her to succeed because then they have no excuse for not trying to get sober.
Marie accepted communion. She is having some trouble in her living situation where she claims other people are accusing her of doing bad things.
Lorenzo seemed really down and spirit broken. He needs prayer.
Enoch is desperately trying to find a way to get visas for his family to come to him from Dominican Republic. He fears for their safety.
James is praying for good health & his new puppies
BP dropped off freshly cleaned blankets and asked us to give them to those in need.
Other people who we saw and are in need of prayer include: Sheila, Buddy (new guy), Freddy (who was dressed like a Best Buy employee), Lee, Guy Robert, Nicole, James (Taz), Mary, and Kenny.
We are so very thankful for the opportunity God gives us to serve those living on the margins of society. Thank you to all of our volunteers and supporters who make LYNN Ministries possible!
