Brockton - November 15, 2025
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served 115 meals in Brockton on Saturday. There were volunteers from Church of Emmanuel, Grace Chapel, South Shore Community Church, St. Mary's Foxboro and Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church Of Boston.
It was a beautiful day of service - chilly but lots of sunshine and no wind. As we pulled into the parking lot of our first stop at 11:22, there were at least 25 people waiting for us already. Earlier in the week, we had discussed how we were going to handle the increased need we've been experiencing. We serve people on the margins of society, some of whom sleep outside and some who are very poor but have housing or shelter. We decided that we would limit those who have some housing to one large item and one small item so that we would have enough to share with those in greater need. We explained this politely and our friends responded well. Though it was chaotic at times, there was only a little pushback, as people understood the need. Prayers and planning beforehand covered us with peace, and we were able to minister not only food and clothes but also a lot of prayer.
These include:
- Carlos #1 is outside. He showed us the large scar on his neck and shared how he very nearly died and how he feels like he is having a second life. We pray that God would keep him alive and direct his steps toward health and protection.
- Carlos #2 and his wife have not seen their daughter Brooklyn for 3 years, They have a hearing in 2 weeks with DCF about visitation rights. Both Carlos's used to be bad enemies but now they look after each other. They both testified that this is the work of God and his power to turn hatred into love.
- Manvilvito asked that we pray for a home and for work.
- Felix was wearing a walking boot and asked for prayer for his heel.
- Stanley is concerned about his girlfriend's dog, Shadow, who needs a coat in the cold weather.
- Jean shared that he was delivering for Grubhub on his scooter when he was hit by a car. He was in bad shape. We prayed for healing and a better work situation.
- Mark shared that he is in congestive heart failure and has stage 4 kidney failure plus other ailments. Mark is not that old but is a train wreck, medically speaking. Both Carlos's vouched for Mark, saying that he helps a lot of people in need. We prayed that God would heal him using his divine touch and also the best medical care available.
- Victor shared that he and his girlfriend Elena fight a lot and asked for peace in their relationship.
- Jacinto (Moyo) shared that his back surgery is not working like it should - he thinks the screws are coming out. We prayed that he would get the help that he needs and that God would help him to manage the pain.
- Dianne is having back surgery in December.
- Jordan asked that we pray for safety, and that she would take better care of herself.
- We celebrated Anthony being 3 years sober! He's enjoying his electrical apprenticeship with Jack and looks a lot better than he has in a while. Magdy listened to him talk about his belief in a higher power and then prayed for him at length. We look forward to the day when Anthony is our brother in Jesus Christ!
- Mark lives in Perkins Park and is recovering from a fall from a 4 story building where he was doing a roofing job. He asked that we pray for his mother Helen, who has congestive heart failure and worries about him. He was very grateful to receive what we had to share with him, but needs so much more.
- Scott shared that his social security came through and he hopes to be able to use these benefits to get a place of his own. We pray that this will happen soon!
- Malik asked that we pray for housing and that he would have a better relationship with his mother Doris. He's hoping to be able to take care of her as a PCA.
- Michael shared that he lost everything with his bad decisions. He's been divorced for 2 years and misses his children badly. He asked that we pray that he gets into rehab soon and gets his life turned around.
- Fiona asked that we pray that she regains custody of her 18 month old son. She is housed and is doing everything right. Her hearing is January 6. She's really on Stephanie's heart.
- Miriam and Bobby asked for prayer.
- Alberta asked for prayer.
- Dianne and her daughter are in a domestic violence situation, and we prayed with her.
- Jessica does not have custody of her two children but wanted to thank God that they are doing well in school. Both are on the honor roll. Jessica says she is drinking less and asks that we pray that she gets her drinking problem under control.
- Nori received an empowerment coat from us recently but had it stolen already. She didn't have much clothing on, but we gave her what we could before she left.
- It was Mary's birthday, so we celebrated her with joyful singing!
Thank you for your continued support. We especially covet your prayers for wisdom and peace as we serve in the cold winter months.
