Brockton - May 3, 2026

Sunday was so much colder and rainy than it was supposed to be, but seven volunteers from LYNN Ministries fed 82 people on the streets of Brockton. We were pretty busy, but there was so much laughter and so much joy and so much heartache. In many ways, the day reminded us of the desperation of so many people and yet their ability to find dignity and reassurance within their community.

We had volunteers from the following churches: Church of Emmanuel, Saint Gregory the Theologian, Mansfield Ma

We also had many prayer requests:

– Fyona was absolutely distraught, there is no other way to describe the level of desperation that she was feeling. And the only thing that she could tell us is that Brockton is bad and that she misses her son.

– Jean 1 is hoping to get documentation so that he can work.

– Jean 2 is praying for his health.

– Junior is praying about his ability to control his diabetes.

– Chris was complaining that everything is lousy. His friend Wavy was found, but stole from him and ran away again.

– (Zamboni) John is hoping to find more landscaping work but at this point is worried that the price of gas is so high that everything he earns simply goes for fuel. He’s not sure if he can afford to keep working because of the price of gas.

– Malik is praying to be better at keeping his schedules.

– Donny told us that his mother only has a couple months to live with cancer and asked us to pray for her.

– Noel is praying for protection and a normal life.

– Becca is now two months sober and is praying for peace, love, joy, happiness, and for our troops.

– James (and Brownie the dog) are praying for his health. And he was so overjoyed to see us.

– Courtney is praying for her loved ones.

– Andrew has friends who need prayer. He says that he is semi-homeless and a little bit of an alcoholic. He was a really interesting guy and very well put together and yet he was headed to sleep at the shelter.

– Tony is praying for his health which is failing. He’s also feeling desperation in the shelter and the constant theft of his things.

– Patrick is now in a wheelchair. It was not long ago that he was walking around strong and pushing others in wheelchairs and helping wherever he could. To see him now confined to a wheelchair is heartbreaking. He is praying for his family and his daughters.

– Irving is praying for an apartment and for a vehicle

– Michael is praying for his boss who needs knee surgery.

– Mark is praying for peace.

– Those who just need general prayer include Sheila, Freddy, Chris 2, Maria, Gill, Dawn, Sal, Nori, Angie, and Audra

At our final stop, which is always Dunkin’ Donuts too discuss the events of the day. One of the servers came around to show us a video of his daughter in church singing at her first communion. That too was heartwarming.
