Brockton - June 8, 2025

Here is an update from yesterday’s LYNN Ministry team that served 108 meals on the streets of Brockton. The majority if the team came from Waters Church, along with volunteers from Church of Emmanuel and South Shore Community Church.

It was a day of service for our team in Brockton. The weather kept us on our toes, shifting from chilly to warm, but it didn't dampen the spirits of our volunteers or the friends we were there to serve. We were particularly blessed to have Jerry and Janelle with us, whose ability to speak and pray with our many Spanish-speaking friends was very much appreciated.

The first two stops of the day we had a tremendous turnout, so much so that we ran out of the food we had brought. (Apologies to the people staying at the shelter. We’ll get that figured out.)

Our team was deeply moved by the stories and requests shared with us. We ask you to pray for the following individuals:

Prayers of Thanksgiving:

- Marie: Expressed thankfulness for everything.

- Joe: Is thankful to have an apartment.

Prayers for Health and Healing:

- Lisa-Marie: Scheduled for surgery on June 25th.

- Janice: Diagnosed with cirrhosis; prayers for her and her family.

- Bethany: Recovering from a grand mal seizure and is extremely fatigued.

- Daniella: For her health and the health of her family.

- Barbara (in a wheelchair): For good health.

- Marissa: Battling cervical cancer and is in a lot of pain. Pray for her to seek immediate medical treatment and find the strength to get clean and off the drugs.

- Janet: In remission from cancer, has stopped drinking, and is currently living in a shelter.

- "Ranger" Joe: A 20-year construction veteran who was injured on the job. He is in need of disability assistance from the VA but struggles with pride. We spoke about him going to the VA. He is pretty much open to the idea. He has been on the streets for six years.

- Sean: Has a prosthetic leg and has been in remission from prostate cancer for 42 years. We also want to extend a special thank you to Sean, who brought a moment of joy to our team by making balloon animals for us, a craft he learned from his days as a clown at children's parties. It was a great gesture of generosity.

Prayers for Housing and Employment:

- Danica & Tim: Danica, who is pregnant, secured an apartment through Father Bill's a month ago but has been asked to leave as the housing is not suitable for a baby. They are seeking further assistance from Father Bill's while they continue to look for an affordable apartment in Brockton.

- Michael: Needs more work hours to afford an apartment; he only had 12.5 hours of work last week.

- Bethany: was released from the hospital after her grand mal seizure. She was very tired and was sleeping in the park. She & Michael are currently sleeping under a bridge, sometimes in the shelter, and are in desperate need of a place to live.

- Mikenol: Needs a job to rebuild his life.

- Yo-Ani: In need of a job.

- Donna: Is looking for a specific type of apartment and is not satisfied with the options she has been shown.

- Jose: Pray for his health and for some work.

Prayers for General Needs and Guidance:

- Chris: While not asking for prayer, he was receptive to a hug from Liz.

- AJ: A general prayer for the remainder of his day.

- Barboua: For meals and the strength to walk.

- Ashley: For her daughter, Serenity, to want to see her and for the conflict between them to cease.

- Michael & Michanan: For their safety while living on the streets.

- Vano: For security and guidance in his life.

- Bob: For "everything in his life."

- Francisco: For his family and his brother in the United States.

- Maria: For her family and security for all.

- Quan: For guidance in his life.

- Fred: For his family.

- Mike: A general prayer for him to find his way out of the darkness in his life.

- Macy & Lacey: For protection over their lives.

- Mike: He received a bag of clothes, a sleeping bag, and a cane but is still in need of a tent.

- King (Keshawn): Is working intermittently and trying to stay on a straight path. He needs to get out of his current relationship.

- Kevin: For protection and to continue to follow God.

- Kiara: Is having a very difficult day; pray that she may see Jesus through her struggles.

- Ja: A mother of two, asks for prayer for herself and her family.

- Keith: Sober for seven years, he asks for prayer for his marriage.

We are grateful to God for the opportunity to have served our friends in Brockton. We thank all those who continue to sponsor LYNN Ministries and lift us in their prayers. May God bless each of you!
