Brockton - July 27, 2025
Here is an update from the LYNN Ministries team that served on Sunday. Volunteers came from Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, Beacon Covenant Church, Attleboro, Grace Chapel and St. Gregory the Theologian Orthodox Mission.
The weather report said it would rain all day! We were able to provide a hot meal and snacks for about 94 of our friends. When we left Emmanuel parking lot it was raining. At our first stop (Perkins Park) rain stopped. We were able to provide food and prayer for our friends. When we left for our next stop, Crescent St., it started to POUR. We arrived at Crescent St. and the rain STOPPED. After providing food and beverages for our friends at this location, we left for the Shelter, it POURED. We arrived at the shelter...guess what? Yup, Rained for maybe a few minutes and stopped. God is so cool!
Our prayer requests are as follows:
- Rochelle was helping Chris in his wheelchair. Apparently Chris had a nasty fall and broke his wrist, ankle, shoulder, and ribs. He was in pain needless to say.
- Patnek has back pain and is currently living in the shelter and the streets. He asked for prayer for permanent housing.
- Bob asked for prayer for a place to live. He also asked for size 10 1/2 sneakers.
- Lisa was bringing food and asked for prayer for her son Alex.
- Sean please pray for housing and that he stays safe on the streets.
- Tara asked for prayers for Stephanie who lives in Braintree. Tara does not see her much and would like to.
- (Bruins) John texted me Saturday night giving us a weather alert. Asked for prayer for safety.
- Maria pray for her daughter Stacie (28 yrs old) living in Weymouth.
- Shaggy his lawn mower was stolen from his shed. Mowing lawns is his livelihood and he needs that to make money. He needs to get some locks for the rest of his equipment. However, despite this, he was heading over to his friend Jerry's house. Jerry's wife passed away a couple years back and he was having a rough time. Shaggy wanted to be with his friend as he grieves the loss of his wife.
- Michael and Bethany pray for health and a place to live. They live on the streets and go to the shelter when they can.
- James (wheelchair) they finally sprayed his building for bugs. He needs some kind of update for his wheelchair. He says he's getting along but really wants some friends to talk with.
- Greg we met him at Crescent St. he is a manager at Autozone. Pray for his safety.
- Tony pray for his life and for a job. He's living with his mom at the apartments near Crescent St. for now, not a permanent thing.
- Victor pray for an apartment his wife (Eddy) is in jail for another month and they need a place to stay. He has family in Boston but they cannot support him.
- Jahlil needs work.
- Malik is in an apprentice program for HVAC in Boston. Trying to get bumped up in the line to become a regular at the shelter so he can have a place to sleep.
- Sean (wheelchair) going to see his vascular surgeon this Wednesday. Then on Friday he has to have his prosthesis (right leg) recast. It's too loose and causes pain.
- Dave told us that Sarah is in the hospital and they expect to amputate both legs.
- Dawn considers it a blessing that her foot was amputated. This all resulted in her getting housing and she got clean while she was in the hospital.
Thanks Rich for the detailed prayer list. And thank you to all the volunteers who make LYNN Ministries serve the least and the lost.
