Brockton - January 17, 2026
Here is an update from Saturday’s LYNN Ministries team that served a hot meal and hot drinks to 77 of our friends in Brockton. It was the 3rd Saturday of the month so we had a full-load of clothes and provisions. It felt colder than the thermometer said, and it seemed to be threatening snow all day, but we stayed dry and served our friends a heavy dose of love. We were joined by a husband-wife pastor team that speaks fluent Haitian Creole and I must say our Haitian friends were so happy to receive prayers in their native tongue.
The team had volunteers from the following churches: Church of Emmanuel, South Shore Community Church, and Arabic Evangelical Baptist Church Of Boston
We had a strong team of prayer warriors with us so the list is longer than usual but, the needs are all heartfelt.
- John is praying to know Jesus better and for the well-being of his children.
- Rizzo is a retired carpenter who’s looking for a part-time job to supplement his income and get into a better living situation.
- Sheila refused prayer (as usual) but I assured her we’d be praying for her anyway. (She’s starting to smile and talk with us a lot more.)
- Bruins John received a special Bruins hat that was donated and he was so happy. He’s joking around with us a lot more.
- Steven is living in the woods and needed a tent. He was so happy to that we had one for him.
- Sandy uses a walker, and was so happy to receive the winter boots she had requested.
- Kenny was in the hospital for 5 days last week but is happy to be out now. He’s still hoping to get into a better living situation.
- Laura is a young woman living outside who looks like she’s been roughed up. At first she didn’t want much but the more we talked she accepted prayer twice, and we were able to provide her with an Empowerment Coat, which is a warm coat that converts into a sleeping bag.
- Coby is praying for work and a safe place to live.
- Jax is praying for better health. She’s got a bad ankle and wrist, a broken nose and 2 masses in her lungs.
- Martine is praying for her daughter in Haiti
- Ross is praying for reconnection with his son and daughter. They haven’t spoke in two years.
- Aroneta is praying that she can get baptized. (She’s warming goes to a local church so we suggested that was the right place to start and to let us know how we could help.)
- Todd is praying for peace and for his uncle’s health.
- Mike is praying for his grand daughter, born Dec 12.
- Marina is praying to be successful as a nursing student. (It is difficult to be a college student and live in the shelter.)
- Derek had hip surgery, and during surgery they discovered colon cancer.
- Sean’s wife died recently after 25 years of marriage. He is praying for the well-being of their 2 children.
- Others who shared their names for prayer but didn’t have specific requests: Freddy, Sue, Jean, Euclid, Joe, Sam (with her 2 dogs), Guillermo, and Donovan.
We are so very thankful for your care and compassion, blessing our friends with your prayers and contributions. You are making a difference on the streets of Brockton. Thank you!
